Quantifiers: some / any / much / many

Di akhir lesson ini, kamu bisa:

  • Memakai some di kalimat positif dan any di kalimat negatif/tanya.
  • Memilih much untuk uncountable dan many untuk countable.
  • Membedakan a few (countable) dan a little (uncountable).

Bentuk & Aturan

Quantifier adalah kata yang menyebut jumlah/banyaknya benda. Pilihannya tergantung dua hal: jenis kalimat (positif / negatif / tanya) dan jenis noun (countable / uncountable).

some vs any

  • some untuk jumlah tak pasti di kalimat positif dan untuk menawarkan/meminta.

  • any untuk kalimat negatif dan pertanyaan.

    There aren't any chairs left. Is there any news?

  • much / many sering muncul di negatif & tanya; di kalimat positif lebih natural pakai a lot of.

    How many emails did you send?: I sent a lot of emails.

  • a few / a little menekankan "sedikit, tetapi cukup / positif".

    Don't worry, we still have a little time.

Examples (English)

Do you have any questions about the report? We received a lot of applications, but only a few good ones. There isn't much budget left, so spend it carefully. Can I have some water, please?

Kesalahan Umum

  • ❌ "I don't have some time." → ✅ "I don't have any time." (di kalimat negatif pakai any)
  • ❌ "How much people came?" → ✅ "How many people came?" (people countable → many)
  • ❌ "We have many money." → ✅ "We have a lot of money." (money uncountable → much / a lot of, bukan many)
  • ❌ "I have a little ideas." → ✅ "I have a few ideas." (ideas countable plural → a few)
