Subject Pronouns & Possessives

Di akhir lesson ini, kamu bisa:

  • Memilih subject pronoun yang tepat untuk menggantikan orang atau benda.
  • Memakai possessive adjective (my/your/his/her...) untuk menyatakan kepemilikan.
  • Membedakan He is (subjek) dari His name (milik).

๐Ÿ” Ingat lagi: dari Modul 5: "my/our/your" (sudah kamu pakai untuk my desk, our team) dan "There is/There are"; dari Modul 1: "phone number". Di sini kamu rapikan seluruh sistemnya (Show me your phone number. His desk is here.).

Bentuk & Aturan

Subject pronoun menggantikan subjek (siapa yang melakukan). Possessive adjective menyatakan kepemilikan dan selalu diikuti kata benda (my car, her idea). Possessive adjective tidak pernah berdiri sendiri: selalu menempel pada benda. Kuncinya: bentuk his/her/its/their dipilih sesuai pemiliknya, bukan sesuai jenis bendanya.

Subject pronounPossessive adjectiveContoh
ImyI lost my keys.
youyourIs this your seat?
hehisHe likes his job.
sheherShe knows her schedule.
ititsThe app saved its settings.
weourWe met our target.
theytheirThey sent their invoices.

Kontras penting: He is vs His name.

TipePolaContoh
Subjek + to beHe is ...He is an engineer. (Dia seorang insinyur.)
Kepemilikan + bendaHis + nounHis name is Ben. (Namanya Ben.)

โš ๏ธ its (milik) tidak pakai apostrof. it's (dengan apostrof) = "it is". Bandingkan: The team changed its logo. vs It's a new logo.

Possessive adjective vs possessive pronoun. Possessive adjective butuh benda di belakangnya; possessive pronoun (mine, yours, his, hers, ours, theirs) berdiri sendiri menggantikan "milik + benda".

Possessive adjective (+ benda)Possessive pronoun (sendiri)
This is my desk. This desk is mine.
Is this your report? Is this report yours?
Her idea is good. The idea is hers.
Their office is here. The office is theirs.

๐Ÿ’ก his sama bentuknya untuk keduanya: "His laptop" dan "The laptop is his". Tapi awas: milik she sebagai pronoun adalah hers, bukan her's (tanpa apostrof).

Kapan Dipakai

  • Subject pronoun dipakai sebagai pelaku kalimat, menggantikan nama agar tidak diulang.

Rina is busy. She is in a meeting.

  • Possessive adjective dipakai sebelum benda untuk menunjukkan pemiliknya.

This is my desk and that is your desk.

  • his/her/its/their memilih bentuk sesuai pemilik, bukan sesuai bendanya.

Tom and his sister. / Maya and her brother.

Examples (English)

She is our team lead, and her office is on the third floor. They submitted their report before the deadline. He is new, so please show him his desk and his badge. The printer is broken; its screen doesn't turn on. We met our target, so the bonus is ours. Is this laptop yours or his?: It's mine, actually.
