Office Equipment & Supplies

Di akhir lesson ini, kamu bisa:

  • Menyebut nama peralatan dan perlengkapan kantor yang umum.
  • Menggunakan 'There is' untuk barang tunggal dan 'There are' untuk barang jamak.
  • Membentuk bentuk jamak (plural) kata benda dengan benar.

Penjelasan (ID)

Di kantor kita dikelilingi banyak peralatan (equipment) dan perlengkapan (supplies). Mari pelajari namanya dan cara mengatakan benda itu ada di suatu tempat.

"There is" dan "There are" (artinya: ada):

  • There is + benda tunggal (singular): There is a printer.
  • There are + benda jamak (plural): There are two printers.

Singkatan: There is sering ditulis There's. Contoh: There's a stapler on my desk.

Singular → Plural (cara membentuk jamak):

  • Umumnya tambah -s: one folder → two folders.
  • Kata berakhiran -s, -sh, -ch, -x tambah -es: one box → two boxes.
  • Berakhiran konsonan + -y → ganti jadi -ies: one copy → two copies.
  • Beberapa kata tak beraturan (irregular): one person → two people, one box of supplies → tetap supplies.
  • Pakai a / an untuk satu benda: a printer, an envelope (pakai an sebelum bunyi vokal: an envelope, an hour).

Catatan: kata benda tak terhitung (uncountable). Beberapa kata kantor TIDAK punya bentuk jamak dan selalu pakai There is: equipment, furniture, paper (sebagai bahan), stationery. Jadi kita bilang There is new equipment: bukan There are new equipments. Untuk menghitungnya, pakai frasa: two pieces of equipment.

💡 Tips: Dalam email atau percakapan formal dengan colleague dari department lain, lebih sopan bertanya "Is there a printer I could use?" daripada langsung "Where's the printer?". Bentuk There's (singkatan) terdengar santai dan sangat umum saat ngobrol; dalam tulisan resmi, tulis lengkap There is.

Kesalahan Umum

  • ❌ "There are new equipments." → ✅ "There is new equipment." (equipment tidak terhitung: tak ada bentuk jamak dan pakai is)
  • ❌ "There is two printers." → ✅ "There are two printers." (benda jamak harus pakai There are)
  • ❌ "There have a stapler on my desk." → ✅ "There is a stapler on my desk." (untuk menyatakan ada, pakai there is/are, bukan have seperti terjemahan langsung dari "ada/punya")
  • ❌ "I need more office supply." → ✅ "I need more office supplies." (supplies hampir selalu jamak saat berbicara tentang perlengkapan kantor)
