Present Continuous for Arrangements
Di akhir lesson ini, kamu bisa:
- Memakai present continuous untuk rencana yang sudah pasti di masa depan.
- Membedakan present continuous (rencana) dan present simple (jadwal tetap).
- Menyusun kalimat dengan penanda waktu masa depan (on Friday, next week).
Penjelasan (ID)
Dalam bahasa Inggris bisnis, kita sering memakai present continuous (am/is/are + verb-ing) untuk berbicara tentang rencana di masa depan yang sudah pasti: sudah ada waktu, tempat, atau orang yang terlibat.
Bentuk: subjek + am / is / are + kata kerja-ing + (penanda waktu masa depan)
| Subjek | to be | verb-ing | Contoh |
|---|---|---|---|
| I | am | meeting | I**'m meeting** the client on Friday. |
| He/She/It | is | presenting | She**'s presenting** the report tomorrow. |
| We/You/They | are | launching | We**'re launching** next week. |
Karena merujuk masa depan, biasanya ada penanda waktu: tomorrow, on Friday, next week, at 3 p.m., this afternoon.
Kunci: present continuous untuk masa depan dipakai saat rencana sudah diatur (ada janji/booking), bukan sekadar niat.
Present continuous vs Present simple
Keduanya bisa bicara soal masa depan, tapi maknanya beda:
| Dipakai untuk | Contoh | |
|---|---|---|
| Present continuous | Rencana pribadi yang pasti | I**'m flying** to Bali on Monday. |
| Present simple | Jadwal tetap / resmi (kereta, jam buka, agenda) | The flight leaves at 7 a.m. |
- Rencana kamu yang sudah diatur → I'm meeting them at 10.
- Jadwal resmi yang tidak kamu kendalikan → The meeting starts at 10.
Ingat: timetable, jam kantor, jadwal kereta = present simple. Janji & rencanamu sendiri = present continuous.
Examples (English)
"I'm meeting the client on Friday at 2 p.m." "We're launching the new product next week." "She**'s flying** to Singapore on Monday for the conference." "But the conference itself starts at 9: that's the fixed schedule." (present simple)
