Di akhir lesson ini, kamu bisa:
- Menyebut angka 0-1.000.000 dalam bahasa Inggris.
- Menanyakan dan menyebutkan harga suatu barang.
- Membaca angka besar dan mata uang dengan benar.
π Ingat lagi: dari Modul 1: "Good morning" (selamat pagi, sapaan buka percakapan) dan "colleague" (rekan kerja). Sapaan ini sering jadi pembuka saat menanyakan harga ke penjual atau rekan.
Penjelasan (ID)
Angka (cardinal numbers) adalah dasar untuk menyebut harga, jumlah, dan data: dari nominal di nota belanja kantor sampai angka penjualan di rapat. Menguasai angka berarti kamu bisa membaca laporan, mengonfirmasi total, dan bernegosiasi dengan percaya diri.
Angka penting:

Aturan penting:
- Belasan berakhiran -teen (13 = thirteen), puluhan berakhiran -ty (30 = thirty). Hati-hati membedakan thirteen /ΞΈΙΛΛtiΛn/ vs thirty /ΛΞΈΙΛti/.
- Gunakan and setelah ratusan dalam British English: 320 = "three hundred and twenty".
- hundred / thousand / million tidak ditambah -s saat menyebut angka pasti:
two hundred (β),
two hundreds(β). Tapi saat berarti "ratusan/ribuan" tak tentu, baru pakai -s + of: hundreds of customers, thousands of dollars. - Membaca tahun: 2026 = "twenty twenty-six"; nomor telepon dibaca satu per satu: 0812 = "oh eight one two".
Catatan register (formal vs santai):
- Di email/kontrak resmi, angka besar sering ditulis lengkap: USD 2,500 (two thousand five hundred dollars).
- Di percakapan santai/telepon, orang sering menyingkat: "two and a half grand" = $2,500 (grand = ribu, sangat informal: hindari di rapat formal).
- Persen dibaca "ten percent", bukan
"ten percents".
Menanyakan harga:
- Barang tunggal: How much is this laptop?
- Barang jamak: How much are these pens?
- Lebih sopan/formal: "Could you tell me the price of this monitor?"
π‘ Tips: Saat angka di telepon kurang jelas, konfirmasi ulang dengan menyebut digit: "So that's one-five-zero, one hundred and fifty dollars: correct?" Ini menghindari salah dengar antara fifteen (15) dan fifty (50), yang sangat mirip.

Kesalahan Umum
- β "It's two hundreds dollars." β β "It's two hundred dollars." (angka pasti: hundred/thousand tanpa -s)
- β "How much are this laptop?" β β "How much is this laptop?" (barang tunggal pakai is)
- β "The price is fivety." β β "The price is fifty." (50 = fifty; ejaan Indonesia sering keliru menambah huruf)
- β "We give 10 percents discount." β β "We give 10 percent discount." (percent tak pernah ditambah -s)
